FrameBreaking Book

If you have a nagging feeling that you don’t know what a good development plan looks like, you are not alone.

The dirty little secret is, there isn’t any such thing as a “good development plan” &emdash; at least not in the sense that most people expect. A development plan is only as good as the thought that goes into creating it. The most elegant development plan form can be filled with well-worded statements and still be meaningless—if it is not grounded in a solid understanding of one’s development needs.

To get results, you don’t need to spend more time wordsmithing a development plan, you need to spend time answering a few key questions. Take a look at this short list of questions and ask yourself if you have good answers:

  • What are my career goal/aspirations?
  • What capabilities have I already developed, and what do I still need to achieve my career goals?
  • What can I do in my current job that will help me to address my development need?
  • What specific learning should I seek from what I am doing?
  • What specific risks should I watch out for?
  • What resources might I need to be successful?

FrameBreaking Leadership Development introduces a powerful new way of thinking about experiences that can help you to find the answers to these questions and chart your own course.
